One of the best musicians and jazz-composer coming from Brazil is Hermeto Pascoal; also he was a source of inspiration of artist such as Miles Davis (he was in Davis' double LP Live/Evil) , Gil Evans and John McLaughlin as well. His music is always in balance between jazz and folk Brazilian sounds. Thanking Edulms today we enjoy an his album entitled Eu e Eles ("me and them", it is an ironic titled because he plays all instruments and arrangements) issued in 1999.
